Report on SONDER - One Day Literary Festival by Anisha Bodapati

On 14th February, the Quills Literary Club organized SONDER – One Day Literary Festival. The objective of the fest was to enhance entrepreneurship skills among students through literature. Complete with stalls related to literary masterpieces such as bestselling books and popular movies and television series, stalls with original illustrated poetry and stalls that ruffle your creative wings, SONDER did justice to its tagline – “Realise The Lore Within You". Students were encouraged to show their literary knowledge and sell suitable merchandise at a nominal rate.

The stalls were put up by students of the club with custom decorations and props that added to the grandeur of the Festival. SONDER comprised of not only English literature, but extended  its reach to French literary work too.

Literature is a form of expressing art and goes hand in hand with other forms of expression. The fest included a selfie booth with various props for taking photographs and a sparkly background that made sure the light reflected at all the right angles.

The mask painting stall – “Masked" and The “Feelings Hub" stall encouraged people to put up their emotions on post it notes, made everyone indulge in their literary ideas and helped us explore the slightest of our creative inclinations.

We got to appreciate our peers' poetic and artistic genius through the “Feel my words with an art" stall.

The scary house was a true work of art and dramatic entrances.  With sheer hard work and flawless execution, the scary house was the crowd’s favourite.
All through the festival, music and dance performances entertained the participants and guests. The performances ranged from classical to Rock & Roll and pop music.
The poets of Zephyr, the poetry chapbook, recited their poems from the book.
Students cosplayed their favourite characters from books and movies, and walked the ramp at the end of the festival.

Lastly, this fest wouldn’t have been possible if not for the efforts of our student coordinators Meera Saheba and Tasleem Fatima, and the constant help and support provided by the lecturers.
I thank the Department of English and Foreign Languages for helping us organize this wonderful fest, and look forward to a possible sequel to SONDER.

The Hyderabad Literary Fest Is An Annual event that celebrates  creativity in all forms. It's an event that draws  many writers, artists, scholars , poets , publishers from all over India and abroad, each year. The Hyderabad Literary Fest 2020 was Organized by the "Hyderabad Literary Trust" in association with the Government of Telangana and with the support of several academic, literary, Cultural Organizations & Publishing houses. It was held on the
24th, 25th & 26th of January 2020 at Vidyaranya School, Secretariat, Khairatabad. I was fortunate to witness this literary gala along with my classmates. I thank, Head, Department of English, Ms Suchitra Reddy for encouraging and supporting our trip.

The Fest consisted of talks, panel discussions, poetry readings, workshops, exhibitions, book launchs, cultural programmes and Prize Distribution. It was a lovely experience especially because Dr.Jhilam Chattaraj - our Lecturer and the 'Editor-in-chief' of the Quills Literary Club was invited as one of the Delegates to conduct a workshop.

The workshop was held on  the 24th of January 2020 on the topic  "Click and Crit with XS: A workshop on Writing Micro reviews for the Digital Media". The workshop was very informative as it explained about the importance of poetry & book reviews on the digital platform.

   Witnessing our College- RBVRR Women's College & The Quills Literary Club, being awarded  the " Best Institute for pleasure for Reading Award* " by the 'Food for Thought Foundation' , was indeed a moment of delight for me. Another moment of Pride & Honour for me was speaking on behalf of the *Quills Literary Club* on the stage after having received the Award.

I indeed am really Grateful that I got to be a part of such an amazing event and it  was really a memorable experience for me. On behalf of al the members, I thank Club, Chairperson, Ms Suchitra Reddy and Principal, Dr K. Sarada for supporting and encouraging us to take up such activities.

Three Poems in French by Rutra Selvi, K. Indu, C. Vaishnavi

Three Poems in French

Quande je regards
Dans Les yeux d 'un oiseau
Je ne vois pas
Une e tiquttte de Prix
Je ne vois pas
Un symbole de statut
Ou un jouet
Je ne vois pas d'animal
Je vais qu 'un etre
Je vais qu ' un ami
Je vais qu 'un ame
Rutra Selvi

K. Indu, BCOM, I Year

Le personne qui m' aime profond,
Le personne qu 'est douce comme le sucre,
Qui me protege comme l'or,
Qui joue dans tous les etape de la vie comme un referee,
Qui me cuisine comme la meillieur chef en monde,
Elle est qu'une personne  en monde,,, c'est ma mère qui est une seul etoille.

"What is Love?" A Poem by Mariya Fatima

What's Love?

What happens with us, is all destined;
True Love, indeed, is hard to find.

Is it which was between Thisbe and Pyramus?
Or is it which bound Cressida and Triolus?

For some it's the blessing of Cupid and Venus ;
For some it is the sacrifice of Aeneas.

Is Love what Conquers the Heart and Mind? ;
For it makes a person Completely Blind;

For some it fills their lives with Glee;
Who knows the Broken heart's  melancholy....;

Some believe that Love is Eternal;
Others say , it is all proverbial ;

From love some keep themselves abstained;
Because deep inside , their hearts lie Pained;

For me - it's a deadly Combination of both pleasure and ache:
Where either two hearts merge or they just Break.

Mariya Fatima, BA I year
