“The Brave Pillow” - By Varshini.N Of B.Sc BtCFs I Year

Pretending I feel fine,
A smile that is mine,
Cloaks my sorrow,
Only my pillow will know.

Oh, the tears that I shed!
That my eyes look dead.
It's easy to hold them back,
For courage is what I lack!
No one would ever know
When I'm feeling low.

Weeping tears in silence,
Worth not a halfpence,
As I keep out of sight,
And hug my pillow tight.

My heart is hurt and you cannot see,
A happy-go-lucky frail is all I want to be.
I've perfected masking my tears so well,
That now when I'm swell,
I wonder
If that smile is mine.
