Women Writers' Fest 2019: A Report By Mariya Fatima

The Women Writers' Fest organized by SheThePeople Tv and Ficci Flo Hyderabad, was held on 7th December 2019 at The Park Hotel, Somajiguda, Hyderabad. The Fest aimed to highlight prominent women writers, bloggers and social figures. The event commenced with an opening note by Ficci Flo's Hyderabad chairperson Sona Chatwani and Shaili Chopra, Founder of SheThePeople TV. The Programme was scheduled to have a set of eight panels starting from 11:00 am to 5:00pm. All the panels discussed a variety of topics like Food trends, the city of Hyderabad, blogging and even a talk on healthy life choices.

Prominent Journalist Sonia Singh, legendary women writers like Volga, Tara Deshpande and revered poets like Nabina Das, Shikandin and Shajahana are but a few of the dignitaries who graced the stage. I was really elated to see my professor, Dr. Jhilam Chattaraj- Coordinator of the Quills Literary Club; and my senior Mounica Alamuri, student editor of the club, as one of the speakers on the panels: When Words Sing: Women’s Journeys Through Verse and How Digital Media has given women a voice, respectively. It was a proud moment for me to see them share the stage with such great people.

It was really an overwhelming experience to have been a part of such an amazing event. I was enraptured with the different insights, stories and experiences each panel brought. We were given a glimpse of the efforts of the poets and writers, who were an inspiration not only for me, but for every single person in the audience. I'm really grateful to Jhilam Ma'am who gave us the opportunity to be a part of this event and I look forward to attending more programs as part of the club's activities.
